Great Vault Season 2: What Each Row Pays and Where It Stops Paying
Most weeks the Great Vault hands you nine options and lets you keep one. The interesting part is that the nine were decided days earlier by what you ran and in what order, so by the time you are standing at the chest the outcome is already fixed.
Season 2 shifted several numbers under the hood. Here is what each row now pays.
Where it lives
The vault sits in the bank in the neutral sector of Silvermoon City, /way 2393 50.2 66.2, with Vaultkeeper Elysa alongside it. A second vault exists in the Horde sector at /way 2393 71.8 65.1 but has no attendant, so anything involving tokens or a bonus roll happens at the neutral one.
Progress is readable remotely. Adventure Guide, Journeys tab, vault button top right. Claiming still needs the trip.
Objectives finished this week unlock next week. Nothing you run today alters what is currently sitting in the chest.
What fills the rows
-
Raid: 2, 4 and 6 boss kills
-
Dungeons: 1, 4 and 8 completions
-
World: 2, 4 and 8 activities
Any slot in any row can produce a tier piece. That includes the dungeon and world rows, which is why writing off the vault on a week you skipped the raid quietly costs you tier chances with no other source.
Dungeon row: your 1st, 4th and 8th key
Three slots read your highest key, your fourth highest and your eighth highest. The order you run them is irrelevant since the game sorts them itself.
A week of +9, +9, +9, +7, +7, +5, +5, +5, +5, +4, +4 produces a +9 first slot, a +7 second slot and a +5 third. Three more keys at +6 or better lifts the third. One at +8 or better lifts the second.
The ladder in Season 2:
-
+2 to +3: 295 direct, Champion Mistcrest, vault 305
-
+4: 298 direct, Hero Mistcrest begins, vault 308
-
+5: 302 direct, vault 308
-
+6: 305 direct, vault 311
-
+7 to +8: 305 to 308 direct, vault 315
-
+9: 308 direct, Myth Mistcrest begins, vault 315
-
+10 and above: 311 direct, vault 318 Myth 1/6
Two numbers pay for themselves. Myth Mistcrests start at +9 rather than +10, so a group that keeps missing timers by a minute has a gentler option. And the vault stops improving at +10, meaning a +15 returns the same 311 drop and the same 318 slot. Above that line you are farming rating and nothing else.
Eight timed runs is the requirement, and eight is the number that eats a week. GetBoost covers the run count through Mythic+ rating or the 10x Mythic+ bundle.
Raid row: one track above what you cleared
-
Raid Finder: 292, Champion 1/6
-
Normal: 305, Hero 1/6
-
Heroic: 318, Myth 1/6
-
Mythic: 335, Mythic 6/6
Heroic producing Myth-track gear is the reason Venomous Abyss Heroic stays on the schedule of guilds already deep into Mythic progression.
Item level per threshold reads the highest difficulty at which you crossed it. An 8/8 Normal plus 5/8 Heroic week gives you two Heroic-quality slots and a third that drops to Normal, because six Heroic bosses never died.
Lair bosses count. Nymrissa Wavecaller in the Tidebound Grotto queues solo on World difficulty and fills raid progress, which makes her the only raid-row credit reachable without a group.
One more thing worth knowing. After you kill a boss at a difficulty, it stays in your loot pool at that difficulty for the season. Killing the eighth boss on Mythic in week four means a single raid slot in week nine can still roll his drops. Reaching the deepest boss you can manage once, early, widens everything afterward.
World row: the third slot that refuses to move
Same 1st, 4th and 8th logic as dungeons. The catch is that Zone Events, weekly quests and Special Assignments all register at Tier 1 Delve level.
Three assignments plus two zone events plus three Tier 8 Delves means your eighth highest activity is worth Tier 1. Slot three shows 279 and another Tier 8 run will not shift it. The requirement is eight real high-tier Delves or Prey hunts, not eight world activities.
The Delves bundle fills that row at full tier. Delve tiers pay 279 at Tier 1 and reach 305 from Tier 8 upward. World bosses and collection weeklies register for nothing at all.
Crest income is the other thing the vault feeds, and the Mistcrests farm covers it separately when the cap is the bottleneck rather than the drops.
When none of the nine help
A Nebulous Voidcore buys an extra roll on a raid or Lair boss, a Bountiful Delve, Prey or the end of a key. It only appears as an option once you have completed three vault objectives. Rolls land at vault item level rather than boss item level, so one spent on a Heroic boss returns Myth 1/6.
Thalassian Tokens of Merit are the currency route, though they are items rather than a true currency. They occupy bag space and cap at twelve. Claiming on a full bag returns nothing at all. Elysa trades them for the Miasmic Jewelbinder, crest satchels, a Spark of Tides, gold or a Voidcore.
The Jewelbinder is the pick people overlook. A socket on a Season 2 helm, bracer or belt that lacks one is a stat gain you carry to Season 3, which beats ten crests spent on something you replace in a fortnight.
Deciding
Take any slot upgrade or tier piece completing a set bonus. Take any weapon upgrade after that, since weapons carry the biggest per-slot swing available. Only when all nine are duplicates at equal or higher item level does the Voidcore become correct, and only then if you filled three objectives. Failing that, tokens and a Jewelbinder. Failing that, gold, and nobody should feel bad about it.
Through weeks one to four the answer is almost always the gear.
GetBoost fills the rows you cannot reach on your own schedule so the pick is between upgrades rather than between disappointments.
